“Socioeconomic status is an economic and sociological combined total measure of a person's work experience and of an individual's or family's economic and social position in relation to others, based on income, education, and occupation.” High socioeconomic status is usually related to better health outcomes. However, a review has found that high socioeconomic status might be related to an increased risk of Multiple Sclerosis. There were a total of 21 studies from 13 different countries around the world included in the research. Five of the studies were from unequal countries and reported a correlation between high socioeconomic status (SES) and MS. These results are inconsistent but it does show an indication of a stronger effect during time periods of economic inequality; likewise, with countries.
